  • Color Word:  Blue
  • Popcorn Words:  Our popcorn words this week were: to, you and do .
  • Readers Workshop:  During readers workshop this week we learned how to have powerful partnerships with our friends.  We read back to back privately and  knee to knee and elbow to elbow when it was time to share our books! I love the excitement the students have about reading!
  • Writers Workshop:  This week we continued to tell small moment, one time, one place stories of things that have happened to us. We have worked on illustrating our stories using lots of details, labels and even exploring the writing of a sentence. I am so proud of my writers!
  • Split Lit:  The students were assessed this week on their knowledge of letters and sounds.  I am amazed and so proud of them for the progress that they have made.  Wow!  I can tell that they are working hard and are ready to learn during Split Lit.  Hooray for them!  On Monday, we will be dividing into 3 groups to work on literacy skills that are  pertinant to them.  Mrs. Lisa, Mrs. O (para professionals) and myself will be leading these groups.
  • Math:  We have continued to work on making numbers, adding numbers together and even started talking about subtracting.  We found groups of numbers too!  We even got to look at pictures and make up stories using words like first, then and at the end .  For example, first I was playing with two trucks, then I grabbed one more to play with. At the end I was playing with three trucks all together.
  • Handwriting:  During handwriting we practiced writing the numbers 8, 9, and 10! We came home with our number books. Please continue to work on writing these numbers at home following our poems!
